st. augustine adventure

These photos were snapped a few weeks ago in  in St. Augustine while sitting on the coquina walls of the Castillo de San Marcos. It was a beautiful, lazy Saturday morning and we decided to take a day trip to the oldest city in the States simply because we could. Following a considerable amount of oohing and aahing at Flagler College and the old cars parked outside the Casa Monica Hotel, we wandered along the Intracoastal past the Bridge of Lions and watched the birds outside the fort for a bit before exploring a few antique shops on San Marco Ave.

Interesting and perhaps useless fact: the fort, built by the Spanish in the late 1600s, was never taken by force (a fact I learned in elementary school while visiting the old city with a flock of classmates- which is a sort of right of passage for fourth grade Floridians).
